Still rated one of the world’s best islands, Boracay in Central Philippines is known for its dazzling White Beach and island hopping. There’s more to do once you’re done with the requisite helmet diving, cliff diving, and sunset cruising on a paraw (sailboat). Check out these suggestions for fun things to do in Boracay.

Swish your tail in a mermaid photo shoot

Your Ariel (of Disney’s The Little Mermaid) fantasies come true. The Philippine Mermaid Swimming Academy also offers mermaid swimming classes, if you want to flip your fins and be part of that (underwater) world. And who says only the girls can have fun? Mermen are welcome.

Learn to cook local food in a Filipino cooking class

Filipino cuisine is starting to amass a following in the US, where Filipino restaurants are popping up on either coast. Before the trend hits foreign shores, get ahead of the pack with Filipino cooking lessons. You’ll be able to serve up a crispy turon (banana roll) and other dishes in a day with We Cook Local.

Try Flyboarding

Xtreme Fun offers flyboarding, hoverboarding and flybiking, which are all high-powered ways of floating over the sea. Few activities in Boracay look as cool, so if you have the spirit of adventure and a buddy willing to shoot your video, you must try these. Click on right-hand image to play video

See the islands from above on a helicopter tour

For a bird’s eye view of the blue sea in all its hues, Boracay Helicopters will whisk you high above Boracay and the surrounding islets. For a price, of course. Click on right-hand image to play video

Go 360° on a Reverse Bungy

Screams are guaranteed on the G-Max Reverse Bungy Boracay where you and your companions will be propelled into the air in cage-like seats. The sight of the beach will be a blur as you lift off and rebound from the slingshot effect of the elastic ropes. Click on right-hand image to play video

Slide and play on inflatables

If a bouncy water park doesn’t sound fun, you’re probably missing out. AquaFun Boracay is child’s play that challenges your creativity. How many ways can you make an epic splash? Endless. Click on right-hand image to play video

Get pampered with spa treatments

The island boasts award-winning spas with a range of treatments for your every need. Mandala Spa takes pride in its Shodhana Karma and traditional Hilot treatments. Tirta Spa is known for its Balinese setting, while the popular King & Queen couples package from Bella Isa Spa includes dinner by candlelight.

Find your balance on a SUP board

As stand up paddling has become common, expect to find it on a popular island like Boracay, where you can find ideal conditions for it any day of the year. Hire your SUP at Enrico’s Stand Up Paddle Board at Station 1 or Reef Riders Windsurfing Center at Bolabog Beach.

Restore your energy with yoga

Boracay can get busy and it sometimes feels like you need to quiet down and get away from the party. Boracay Yoga offers single sessions, while The Beach Meditation has multi-day retreats for yoga and meditation.

Ride a zip line and cable car

It’s one thing to zip over the tree tops and another to see the sea in the horizon. Zipline Boracay lets you do a mix of both for a heartstopping minute. Afterwards, a more leisurely ride back to base on a yellow cable car lets you appreciate the view you missed.
