SHOP AT AN OUTLET

The newly opened Mitsui Outlet Park (MOP) houses over 70 outlet stores from Bally to Zegna, Asics to Under Armour. MOP provides a check-in service, free luggage storage and naturally, a tourist privilege pass. There are also flight information displays, so there’s no excuse to miss your flight.
Recommended time allotment: At least 5 hrs for self-connecting flights, 4 hrs before flight for Fly-Thru
How to get there: A free shuttle bus runs in a loop around KLIA, klia2 and MOP at regular intervals

SEE A PLANNED CITY

Have you been to Putrajaya? If not, go on a sightseeing tour of Malaysia’s administrative centre, where major government offices are located. With wide avenues, vast open spaces and a lake, Putrajaya is a fitting contrast to busy Kuala Lumpur. Each building and bridge has a distinctive character and looks especially stunning at night.
Recommended time allotment: At least 6 hrs for self-connecting flights, 5 hrs before flight for Fly-Thru
How to get there: KLIA Transit offers a roundtrip Putrajaya sightseeing tour, which includes train tickets to and from klia2 and the bus tour around Putrajaya, for RM31.40.

GET SOME SHUTEYE

Is there nothing you want more than some previous sleep? There’s no need to go far as there are options in the klia2 area. If you have no luggage to collect, Sama-Sama Express klia2 located at the Satellite Building is ideal as a transit hotel because you don’t have to clear immigration. Next to the transport hub at Gateway Level 1, Capsule by Container Hotel is the cheap and chic option for a short snooze and a shower. If you want the privacy of a room, Tune Hotel klia2 is the place to be. The hotel is accessible from klia2 by covered walkway.

Recommended time allotment: At least 6 hrs before next flight
How to get there: All klia2 hotels are accessible on foot from the terminal

BE A MALL RAT

The slogan of Gateway@klia2 says it all: “The shopping mall with airport”. There are plenty of ways to kill time here, either by window shopping or buying what you need for the next leg of the journey. Eat at one of the numerous food outlets and restaurants, pamper yourself with a luxurious massage treatment or avail of lounge services. All your needs are covered—there’s a pharmacy, supermarket, left luggage service, bureaux de change. Plus, you can get three hours of free Wi-Fi access.

Recommended time allotment: Anytime before your flight counter opens
How to get there: Upon landing at klia2, access is via the Arrival area

BEFORE YOU GO

  • A transit visa may be required to leave the terminal building. Guests connecting via Fly-Thru may leave the terminal provided they pass through Immigration upon exit and re-entry into the terminal.
  • For activities based on a set schedule (i.e. shuttle bus or tour bus), please be mindful of connection times and be at the boarding gate at the designated time stated on your boarding pass.

  1. Hi, so you can actually leave the airport area? And are you able to get back in into the airport as long as you keep the tickets and everythg with you?

    • Hi! This is assuming that you didn’t purchase Fly-Thru tickets, in which case there are separate tickets for the self-connecting flights.
